Vital Motorcycle fluids that you must keep at home

If you have a motorcycle at home you should be carrying out regular fluid checks to keep your motorcycle running longer on the road. Pre-ride and post-ride checks are key to keeping your bike in good condition and one important aspect to it is to check your fluid levels.
Having the most essential fluids close to you and not as far as 10 kms to the parts store or the service centre would make a big difference. We have listed a few of these fluids that you must keep at your home away from pets and kids.

Engine Oil
Engine oil should be a part of your regular monthly checks. Having a litre of the same oil that you are using can be of help especially when you start off for a ride and see the levels being low.
If you’re not sure Check what oil your manufacturer recommends and get some for when you need it. That’s a lot less bothersome than having to do a last-gasp dash to the service station.

Coolant
A cooling system i.e. the radiator, hose or any other component will not leak between two services however there are chances of the level going down. Once upon a time, you might have gotten away with plain tap water when topping up, but this dilutes the anti-freeze mixture. So keep some coolant handy when the level fluctuates.

WD40 / Multi Purpose Lubricant
Our motorcycles live outside, bolts jam or seize at the wrong time. You can hear creaks and noises that can be annoying. This is where you need multipurpose lubricants. One of the heroes in this category is WD40. It is a magical spray that can lubricate and displace water from places that are unreachable. It’ll help get stuck bolts free and it’ll work wonders on your beard clippers.

Chain Clean & Lube
Need we say more, one of the top maintenance tasks is to clean and lube your chain. If you keep it well it will last longer and perform at its optimum. Get a good chain cleaner that will combine optimum penetration upon spraying with perfect adhesion while working. When you get a chain lube make sure it’s the correct one for use and has corrosion protection.

Brake Cleaner
Good for cleaning lots of stuff, like removing stains from concrete and grease from clothing. And if you’re actually servicing your brakes, all the better.

Electric Contact Cleaner
There will be times where your bike doesn’t fire up and it could be as simple as a side stand switch that’s not making contact because of the dirt. Contact cleaners have a blend of special cleaning agents that quickly remove grease, oil and other contaminants and are ideal for use on engine parts, throttle bodies, ignitions, relays & plugs

Waxing, Detailers & Cleaners
If your bike is a little dusty from sitting, it doesn’t need a wash—just a wipe down with a microfiber towel and a product that you can spray and wipe. Motorcycle care components extend the life of surfaces and provide protection against weathering. Having a high gloss coating specifically formulated to coat plastic and painted surfaces makes the clean up process easier.
