In discussion with the 100% synthetic oils!
PART A (101)
Basic Oils explained
Introduction with Excerpts towards the main discussion.
Where does the oil go?
- Most modern motorcycles use the same lubricant in the engine, gearbox and clutch. Motorcycle lubricants therefore contain a package of base oils and specific additives to optimize engine performance at high speeds, protect the moving parts of the gearbox and improve clutch response during gear shifting.
Why do you need an oil?
Majorly to separate the moving parts:- Hence to lubricate hence; cool, clean & protect but with recent technology in oils they also add further value by reducing noise/vibrations , optimized* horsepower, optimized* protection and optimized* clutch feel!
*Stating ‘optimized’ here for a reason and not using words like increasing, better, longer, shorter, faster here! Will discuss that later. Hint:- This is why you would buy a 100% Synthetic / Triple Ester Oil (also semi synthetic to some extent)
A few points of interest!
- It is said that 90 percent of engine wear occurs at startup
- The operating temperature of the engine is different calculation vs that of the weather outside that may be used for starting temperature calculations. Choose wisely as per both!
