Engine guards are typically associated with adventure bikes – and rightly so. But effective underbody protection also makes sense on touring motorcycles like the R 1300 RT.

Our STREET engine guard in Tool Design is built on the same stringent design principles as the ULTIMATE engine guard for the R 1300 GS and GS Adventure.

Its tight, contour-hugging shape provides full protection for the engine casing, oil pan, and headers, with minimal impact on ground or cornering clearance. The geometry helps avoid bottoming out – for example, when crossing curbs with a fully loaded bike. Integrated openings allow water to drain easily.

The angled deflector plates redirect stones and debris thrown up by the front wheel, reducing the risk of damage to headers and engine casing. A key benefit: it also deflects splash water when riding through ruts or puddles, significantly reducing thermal stress on a hot engine and its seals.

Its complex shape and geometry were engineered for strength and weight optimisation, delivering a rigid, lightweight guard that fits so closely it exemplifies the “form follows function” design philosophy. All fasteners are recessed, eliminating potential impact surfaces and enhancing the sharp-edged design.
